Back To School Bash
On September 23rd I Pour Life opened its doors for an event for the first time since the pandemic occurred. We called it the Back to School Bash to celebrate the beginning of the school year for many of our youth, but our youth were not the only ones in attendance! Not all of the youth attending were celebrating going back to school. Many are working full or part time all year round. We invited members of the community, former youth and current and former I Pour Life staff members.
There were about 100 people in attendance and we had a variety of activities for everyone! For dinner, everyone received a voucher for a burger from Black Sheep! We also had ice cream from the Springfield Police Departments “Cold Patrol”. They generously came and served ice cream for free, it was a huge hit!
Katie, one of our coaches, said her youth “was able to make new friends and was excited to hang out with them outside of the event”.
We had cornhole, giant connect four, basketball, group games, a photobooth and a dunk tank! All of the coaches took a turn letting their youth attempt to drop them into the tank of water below. While some watched the dunk tank, others made new friends while making bracelets and coloring our I Pour Life themed coloring sheets!
We finished off the night by recognizing 4 members of the I Pour Life community for their longtime dedication to the organization. We honored Julie Higgins, Vanessa Higgins, Rita Gurian and Peter Ostapko.
Our team members have changed a lot in the last few months. As a chapter ends for a few of I Pour Life’s original team members, we are thrilled to start a new chapter with many new faces.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, served and provided food for this event! It was one of our best yet! Spread the love
