LifeStrengths Texas

In 2018, I Pour Life launched LifeStrengths Youth Development in Dallas, Texas.

The Solution

LifeStrengths is a system developed by I Pour Life to address the unique needs of at-risk youth ages 16-24 who are aging out of the foster care system, living in generational poverty, or are young adult offenders by pairing them with an on-staff LifeCoach. Together they focus on development in the areas of identity, education, finances, and independence, allowing youth who have been socially isolated to achieve self-sufficiency.

When youth are paired with a LifeCoach who invests in them, believes in them, and coaches them to become self-sufficient, they are able to leave past labels behind, break the cycle of generational poverty and reliance on government subsidies, and pursue their dreams.

The Need

With the success of LifeStrengths in Springfield, Missouri, we began receiving inquiries asking if I Pour Life would expand to other areas. We knew for us to duplicate the program, it would take a special visionary person who has a deep love for people. We knew we couldn’t just “duplicate” LifeStrengths without taking into consideration the foundational principles we had founded I Pour Life on. Welcoming people to our family and truly loving youth right where they are, would take a special person to champion the work. But when Tracey Hardwick expressed an interest and an aptitude in tackling the staggering statistics of homeless and at-risk youth in the Dallas area through the LifeStrengths development program, we knew we had the right person.

The Vision

LifeStrengths Texas aims to develop at-risk and homeless youth in the North Texas area to rewrite their futures, replacing labels of loneliness and hopelessness with community and opportunity.

Through one-on-one and group meetings in local high schools, LifeCoaches will help youth discover their strengths, make plans for their futures, and stand in the gap for youth who are at-risk, in the foster care and judicial systems, Child Protective Services, and who struggle with homelessness. Site-based LifeCoaches work alongside teachers, counselors, and administrative school staff to help every youth graduate high school prepared for self-sufficient adulthood. I Pour Life’s site-based coaching will also extend to after-school hour programs to provide developmental support in the lives of at-risk youth after the school day ends.
