“Addiction, laziness and unhealthy relationships defined who I was for many years. I didn’t pass my last year of school so I was at a loss of what to do. I didn’t have the desire to work and became addicted to cigarettes and alcohol after being influenced by the people around me. After over a year of living this way, I joined the Youth Development program at I Pour Life Ethiopia.
I am no longer addicted to anything and I have removed the unhealthy people from my life. My LifeCoach has helped me be able to identify the people who are beneficial to my life and take out those who negatively affect me.
Aside from meeting with my LifeCoach, I regularly do volunteer work and have started reading a lot more. I also work on making drywall to support my family.
I once had trouble managing my time and completing my work, but I now take full responsibility for all of my actions. I plan and schedule my time and I am driven to accomplish my goals. My current goal is to open my own mobile phone repair shop. I have already finished one month of training for it and I now only have one month to go!”
Like many other youth in the community of Kore, Ethiopia, Masrash had turned to addictive behaviors to distract him from the challenges he was facing. LifeCoaching has helped Masrash become confident, organized and responsible.
