A hand up to end poverty is much better than any hand out. In every country we partner
with, we seek to provide that hand up by working with people and providing them the
tools they need to become sustainable.
WHERE WE WORK
In this country of 6 million, more than one-third of the population lives in poverty. I Pour Life has been partnering with Moody Missions since 2010, working to bring holistic change in the lives of families. We work in the public and private school systems teaching youth how to take steps towards a safe and self-sufficient lifestyle.
The city of Korah in Ethiopia sits on the outskirts of Addis Ababa and is part of one of the largest and most densely populated sub cities. Korah is home to the most marginalized and vulnerable members of Ethiopia’s population. In all of Ethiopia, 89% of the people live on under $2 a day, and 46% of people live on under $1 a day. Our 10×10 program teaches 10 women a trade or skill over the course of 10 months so they can become sustainable.
LifeStrengths: provides social capital to homeless and at-risk youth by providing them with a LifeCoach who together with the youth create a LifeMap leading to self-sufficiency. LifeStrengths is targeted to youth and young adults from 14-24. LifeStrengths works in partnership with agencies who provide relief and rehabilitation.
